Cakum Global is recruiting a Mechanic – Reach Stacker / Heavy Equipment for a client based in Lae, Papua New Guinea.

Role Overview:
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining and repairing reach stackers and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient port and logistics operations. The role suits a skilled mechanic with strong diagnostic ability and experience in demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on reach stackers and heavy equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Carry out major component repairs and part replacements.
• Maintain accurate service records and job logs.
• Support breakdown response and field service when required.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience working on reach stackers or similar heavy equipment.
• Background in mining, ports, logistics and field operations highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and diagnostic systems.
• Hands-on, problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote or challenging environment.
